About

Volunteer experience and traditions are presented in many Jewish organizations in the city of St. Petersburg. One of them is JCC Esod. One of the objectives of Esod is development of the culture of volunteering in the framework of the Jewish community by supporting different social projects and attracting volunteers to the activity of existing programs. On the basis of Esod there is a youth leadership program Lehava in which volunteering takes a special place. Every year the participants of the program organize their own volunteer projects and cooperate with the Jewish organizations of the city.

Tatiana is a student and in a few years will become a high class dentist. Tatiana regularly takes part in volunteering projects for children. She graduated from Jewish classical school for girls and entered prestigious medical university of St. Petersburg, but it wasn’t enough for her.  She is confident that children are aliens from another planet, unpredictable and charming, who never let you get bored.

Just six months ago, Julia became a mother, but this did not prevent her from being an active volunteer for the Jewish community.  Last year she took part in more than 30 volunteer activities, some of which she had organized herself.  This year, Julia graduated from the “Lehava” program “and her final project was a course of psychological support for the volunteers Hesed Abraham.  The lady is sure that the volunteering is not simply a hand of the help from the strong on the weak, but the ability to live a “full” life.
